FILTER BREAKTHROUGH
APPLICATION NOTE 1.000.A0
INTRODUCTION
Measuring and controlling suspended solids in filtered material is often vital. Goals such as product clarity, quality and minimum waste can be achieved by continuous monitoring. Unlike periodic sampling, continuous monitoring provides instant feedback about process changes and allows for instant correction.
APPLICATION
The most important part of any separation system (filters, settling tanks, centrifuges, etc.) is to separate out the solids from the liquids. In this case, you want to ensure a quality separation in order to prevent solids from leaving with the filtrate. There is a need to protect against contamination in case of breakthrough or inefficient separation techniques. The damage caused by the escape of poorly filtered product differs with every system and industry. However, the costs can be significant in time and lost product.
SOLUTION
The Monitek suspended solids monitor will continuously check the solution and will immediately detect the presence of solids that have failed to be removed. The Monitek unit warns the operator of the smallest quantities of contaminants and enables him to take immediate action. These contaminants are usually due to filter breakthrough. The operator can take action immediately to recycle the unclear filtrate and adjust the less-than-efficient filter or separation unit.
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS
A complete filtration feedback system can be achieved using a Monitek unit by maximizing throughput, optimizing the precoat cycle and insuring clarity at the filter output.
