Measure free cyanide in industrial waste water
CYANIDE
Cyanide is used in industrial applications
ranging from organic synthesis in a chemical
plant to precious metal plating. Due to high
toxicity, HCN is also a priority pollutant which
must be measured on-line to meet federal and
state permitted release levels.
A typical application in an HCN production
plant would be the measurement of cyanide in
effluent waters before chlorination in a cyanide
destruction process, and another application
would be monitoring low levels of cyanide in
waste recovery just prior to final effluent
release. In both applications the objectives are:
TYTRONICS'® SENTINEL
Tytronics’ Sentinel is an on-line colorimetric
analyzer. The instrument uses a batch sampling
technique that allows the use of 0.25” tubing for
sample lines, so small amounts of solids will not
affect instrument performance. Other
advantages of batch sampling are:
analytical results are not affected by sample
and reagent flows;
analyses are only performed as frequently as
required, minimizing reagent consumption.
METHOD
This colorimetric analysis uses 2 ml each of
reagent 1, reagent 2 and reagent 3.
Enhanced Features of Tytronics’ Sentinel:
Programmable from 1 to 10 methods for a
single analysis compound;
Up to 3 different calibration methods;
Eight relay outputs, multi-programmable on
each relay;
Alarm functions, including sample flow,
reagent level detection;
From 1 to 6 stream configurations standard.
