COLORMETRIC, TITRIMETRIC, ISE, AND
SPECTROPHOTOMETRIC ANALYZER
Galvanic Applied Sciences USA manufactures the complete product line of Tytronics online
wet chemical and gas analyzers. The Tytronics products include the Sentinel and FPA
series of On-line Analyzers. These analyzers use “state of the art” technology to perform
colorimetric, titrimetric, ISE, and spectrophotometric analyses. These analyzers can be
configured to perform many EPA and ASTM wet chemical methods, as well as many
standard methods. The Sentinel and FPA analyzers use a modular design that can be
configured to meet the specific requirements of the customer's application.
Sentinel Analyzers

Multi-stream chemical analyzers capable of
determining A (Aluminum) to Z (Zinc)
The Sentinel Analyzer is capable of both process
chemical analysis and the monitoring of potable water
and wastewater. This instrument can analyze up to six
streams for the same chemical species, at different
concentration ranges.

FPA 300™ Process Potentiometric Titrator
pH/ORP/ISE TITRATIONS
The Tytronics™ FPA 300 series delivers simple, reliable and highly cost-effective
on-line titration. Acid-base, redox and other analyses are typical applications in
a wide variety of industries, including; chemicals, petrochemicals, textiles, metal
finishing and pulp & paper.
FPA 400™ Process Colorimetric Titrator
pH INDICATOR/NON-AQUEOUS/COMPEXOMETRICTITRATIONS
The Tytronics™ FPA 400™ series is an extension of the proven FPA
300™, adding applications for titrating to a color endpoint.
Colorimetric titration offers on-line analytical capability at trace
levels in applications such as monitoring plant effluent and
municipal water, and environmental analysis in general.
FPA 800™ PROCESS COLORIMETER
COMPLEXOMETRIC METHODS
reaction cell is used both to capture and to analyze the sample.
A dipping colorimetric probe is mounted in the reaction cell to
measure the absorbance of the resulting solution.
The reaction cell contains no moving parts, except for the magnetic
stirrer, and is available in various materials (an acrylic cell is standard)
All sample and reagent lines are 1/4”. Mixing is accomplished
through the use of a magnetic Teflon™ coated stir bar. Fiberoptics are
used to transmit light to and from the reaction cell. The light source is
a tungsten filament which provides a continuum in the visible and
NIR region. The fiberoptics bundle of the return path is bifurcated to
facilitate the dual wavelength operation.

PROCESS SPECTROPHOTOMETERS
FIELD PROGRAMMABLE ANALYZERS /
PROCESS UV SPECTROPHOTOMETERS
The FPA 1000/1100 series uses a design that separates the electronics from the
measurement cell. Fiberoptics are used to transmit light to and from the measurement cell.
The use of fiberoptics simplifies installation and reduces maintenance costs. The
measurement cell mounts directly into the process stream which avoids the need for a
separate sampling system in many applications. There are no electrical connections at the
cell, avoiding explosion-proof requirements at the sample point. The cell requires no optical
alignment at time of installation or after routine maintenance. This further aids rapid
installation and greatly eases maintenance by plant personnel.
A single beam, dual wavelength, optical configuration corrects for window coating, sample
turbidity or light intensity changes from interfering with the instrument’s results. Automatic
calibration insures instrument accuracy.
The electronics are microprocessor-controlled with full on-board diagnostics. With these
features process engineers can now choose an on-line spectrophotometer which is simple to
install and gives reproducible and accurate result over a wide range of process conditions.
By design, these instruments are virtually maintenance-free. |

FPA 4000/4100 Series
The FPA 4000/4100 is an online spectrophotometer capable of measuring the concentration of many analytes in process liquid or gas
streams. The FPA 4000/4100 uses well established spectrophotometric techniques to perform the measurement. In general, energy from
a source lamp is transmitted to a measurement cell via a multi-standed fiber optics bundle. The sample continuously flows through the
cell, where the analyte of interest will absorb energy from the light source. The energy that passes through the cell is then transmitted
to a set of photodetectors via a bifurcated fiber optics bundle. The amount of energy absorbed by the sample is proportional to the
concentration of the analyte in accordance with Beer’s Law.
The FPA uses a single beam, dual wavelength design. The energy that passes through the measurement cell is split so that it is directed to
two photodetectors, one for reference and one for measure. Each photodetector is equipped with a bandpass filter such that only a single
wavelength can be measured. The measure wavelength is selected in a region of the spectrum where the analyte of interest is known to
absorb strongly. The reference wavelength is selected in a region of the spectrum where the analyte of interest does not absorb. The dual
wavelength design compensates the measurement for turbidity of the sample, optical window coating and loss of light intensity over time.
Benefits
No reagents required for the analysis.
Rapid response.
Long lamp life.
Dual wavelength operation minimizes the effect
of turbidity in liquid samples.
Measures in true absorbance and hence
response is linear with concentration.
Automatic calibration.
Automatic washing of cell when required.
Large separation of the photonic and control
units thus facilitating the installation of the
analyser.
Automatic temperature and pressure correction
for gaseous measurements.
Measurement cells may be heated using an
oven or by steam jacketing.
Cell may be for by-pass line or in-line.
